Honeymoon Island State Park – twice voted a National Gold Medal winner as America’s best beach – is a short 10-minute drive from Lake Highlander Mobile Home Park. Visitors can soak up the sun on the white sandy beaches located on the Gulf of Mexico, swim in the warm Gulf waters, or catch a spectacular Florida sunset. There is even a pet beach for dogs. For nature lovers, there are osprey nests, a wide variety of shorebirds and several nature trails. The Nature Center offers several exhibits. The South Beach Pavilion contains a gift shop, snack bar, and well-maintained restrooms and showers surrounded by lots of parking. Entrance fees are $8 per day (2-8 people per vehicle). You can also purchase an annual pass for $120 which entitles you to unlimited entrance to Honeymoon Island State Park along with most other Florida state parks. If you are a veteran, you can show your DD-214 discharge papers and purchase the annual pass for $96. Or, become a member of the Friends of the Island Park for $35 and receive 12 free admissions to the park.
