Caladesi Island State Park, one of the few completely natural islands along Florida’s Gulf Coast, contains 3 miles of undeveloped white sand beaches. Accessible only by boat, the island was voted the #1 beach in America by Dr. Beach in 2008 and was recently voted one of the best beaches in America by TripAdvisor. Activities include swimming, sunbathing and beachcombing. There is a 3-mile nature trail in the island’s interior and a 3-mile kayak trail through the mangroves. Amenities also include a snack bar and gift shop with restrooms. Visit the island by boat or via the Caladesi Island Ferry ($14 per person) which departs from Honeymoon Island every half hour starting at 10:00am daily. Honeymoon Island and Caladesi Island were originally part of a large barrier island that split in half during a 1921 hurricane.
